Why Early Athletic Development Matters

Today’s kids are less physically active than ever, often missing out on the movement skills that set them up for long-term success. Our Foundations class bridges that gap—helping kids learn how to move well, stay injury-free, and gain confidence in sport and life.

This program builds essential physical literacy through:

  • Skipping, hopping, running, jumping, and landing
  • Intro to strength training (bodyweight & light resistance)
  • Core stability, coordination, and balance
  • Spatial awareness and control

Who Should Join?

Foundations is ideal for kids ages 9–12 who:

  • Are new to sport or just starting training
  • Need to build confidence in their movement
  • Want to improve coordination, strength, or athletic ability
  • Are preparing for more structured training in their teen years

No experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to move!

Program Info

Ages: U9–U12 (Typically 9–12 years old)

Class Length: 45–60 minutes

Frequency: 1–2x per week (based on enrollment)

Location: Wildewood Health – Sport Performance Studio

Coach-to-Athlete Ratio: Small groups for personalized attention
